Questions & evidence

Does tirzepatide cause hair loss?

Hair loss is a reported adverse reaction in the Zepbound label for tirzepatide. In pooled Study 1 and Study 2, it was reported by 5% at 5 mg, 4% at 10 mg, and 5% at 15 mg, compared with 1% on placebo. The label also describes an association with weight reduction. Those statements answer what was observed in that study population; they do not identify the cause of hair loss in an individual person. Zepbound label

The percentages and the people behind them

The adverse-reaction table covers adults with obesity or overweight in the Zepbound weight-management studies. The placebo group included 958 participants, while the 5, 10, and 15 mg groups included 630, 948, and 941 participants respectively. A percentage is attached to one of those study groups, not to a general category of everyone who has ever taken tirzepatide. Zepbound label

The dose columns are useful context, but they do not form a simple rising line: the reported hair-loss percentage was lower at 10 mg than at 5 or 15 mg. The label does not turn that pattern into a strategy for choosing a dose. This page therefore keeps the numbers descriptive and does not infer a personal dose-response relationship from three group percentages. Zepbound label

What the dedicated hair-loss paragraph adds

The label says hair-loss adverse reactions were associated with weight reduction. In the pooled studies, reports were more frequent among female than male participants: 7.1% versus 0.5% in the Zepbound groups and 1.3% versus 0% in the placebo groups. These are additional subgroup descriptions from the same source, not a forecast for an individual reader. Zepbound label

The source also says no Zepbound-treated participant and one placebo-treated participant discontinued study treatment because of hair loss. That observation concerns study discontinuation. It does not mean that every event was mild, that every event resolved, or that the label supplies a timeline for regrowth. Those different questions are not answered by the discontinuation count. Association is narrower than an individual explanation

The adverse-reaction section cautions that differently conducted studies cannot be directly compared and that study rates may not reflect rates in practice. That caveat applies even to a symptom with a familiar everyday name. A number from a controlled study can document a reported association without establishing the cause of a particular episode observed outside that study. Zepbound label

This reference does not add an unsourced mechanism, a supplement recommendation, or a recovery timetable to the label. The evidence being summarized is the reported hair-loss category, its study percentages, and the label statement about weight reduction. Keeping those boundaries visible prevents a search result about causation from becoming a stronger claim than its source supports.

Preserve what changed and when it was noticed

PinPoint supports side-effect entries with severity ratings and daily notes. Those can sit alongside a dated dose history, including earlier doses added through backfilling. An observation can preserve the wording and date of what was noticed without the app labeling it as medication-caused. PDF, CSV, and JSON export provide ways to review the record outside the app. App features

The modeled-level display cannot establish a cause of hair loss. It is a mathematical visualization based on population-average half-life data, with individual variation explicitly outside the model. The dose log and notes are the relevant documentation features here. Talk to the prescriber about new, persistent, or concerning hair loss. App features

Questions

Was hair loss listed in Zepbound studies?

Yes. The label reports 5%, 4%, and 5% in the 5, 10, and 15 mg groups, versus 1% on placebo, in pooled Study 1 and Study 2. Zepbound label

Does the label provide a regrowth deadline?

The cited adverse-reaction passage provides incidence, subgroup reporting, and discontinuation information. It does not supply a regrowth timetable, so this page does not invent one. Zepbound label
