GLP-1 constipation
Constipation appears in the adverse-reaction sections for semaglutide and tirzepatide products, including Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound. The percentages differ across their study populations and assigned doses. A useful answer to a GLP-1 constipation question therefore starts with the label context, rather than a single number for the whole category. This reference describes the reported data and the limits of comparing it. Ozempic labelWegovy labelMounjaro labelZepbound label

Semaglutide: two injection evidence sets
Ozempic section 6.1 reports constipation in 5.0% at 0.5 mg and 3.1% at 1 mg, compared with 1.5% on placebo. Those data come from the pooled adult type 2 diabetes monotherapy and basal-insulin studies. Wegovy Table 3 describes a different pool: adult weight-management Studies 2, 3, and 4 using 2.4 mg weekly, with constipation reported in 24% versus 11% on placebo. Ozempic labelWegovy label
Both use the active ingredient semaglutide, but that does not make the study populations or doses interchangeable. The labels explicitly caution against direct comparisons of adverse-reaction rates across differently conducted studies. The numbers can be displayed together to identify their provenance, but they cannot establish that one product will produce more or less constipation for an individual reader. Tirzepatide: retain the brand and study pool
Zepbound pooled Study 1 and Study 2 reported constipation in 17%, 14%, and 11% at 5, 10, and 15 mg, compared with 5% on placebo. The footnote includes hard stools in the category. Mounjaro pooled SURPASS-1 and SURPASS-5 adult diabetes data reported 6%, 6%, and 7% at the same assigned strengths, compared with 1% on placebo. Zepbound labelMounjaro label
These rows represent different evidence sets. The Zepbound percentages decrease across the assigned-dose columns, while the Mounjaro values do not follow the same pattern. Neither pattern supplies a personal dose-adjustment rule. It is more accurate to retain the published group descriptions than to turn a table shape into a prediction about what happens after a medication change. Zepbound labelMounjaro label
| Product / study pool | Dose group | Reported / placebo |
|---|---|---|
| Ozempic monotherapy + basal insulin | 0.5 / 1 mg | 5.0% / 3.1%; placebo 1.5% |
| Wegovy Studies 2–4 | 2.4 mg | 24%; placebo 11% |
| Zepbound Studies 1–2 | 5 / 10 / 15 mg | 17% / 14% / 11%; placebo 5% |

Frequency does not supply a personal explanation
The label percentages describe reported events during studies. They do not establish how many days a particular episode lasted or why a particular person experienced it. Postmarketing reports are another evidence category, with uncertain population size and limits on estimating frequency or causation. A study table and a voluntary-report list should not be presented as the same kind of measurement. Ozempic labelWegovy labelZepbound labelMounjaro label
This page does not infer an individual mechanism, suggest a remedy, or use the presence of constipation as a reason to choose a different amount of medication. Its scope is the label evidence: which population was observed, which amount was assigned, what category was reported, and what the source says about interpretation. Those boundaries keep a factual reference from becoming an unsupported treatment plan.
Keep observations attached to dates
PinPoint supports daily notes and side-effect severity ratings, as well as injection logs with compound, dose, site, and pain level. Backfilling earlier doses can preserve context around a dated observation. These features make a history available for review without claiming that the app can determine the cause of a symptom or diagnose a gastrointestinal condition. App features
The app also supports PDF, CSV, and JSON export. A record can retain the observation as written, the date logged, and the surrounding prescribed phase. The modeled-level graph remains a mathematical reference based on population averages rather than a clinical test. Talk to the prescriber about new, persistent, or concerning constipation. Questions
Is constipation listed for both semaglutide and tirzepatide?
Yes. The cited Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, and Zepbound adverse-reaction sections all report constipation, with different study populations and dose-specific percentages. Ozempic labelWegovy labelMounjaro labelZepbound label
Do the tables tell me which product will cause fewer symptoms?
No. The labels caution against direct comparisons across differently conducted studies. The percentages provide source-specific context rather than a personalized ranking. Ozempic labelWegovy labelMounjaro labelZepbound label
